Hi, TwitRSS is a private initiative brought to you by Level134. TwitRSS is a service that lets you follow the news you're interested in right from your phone.
Imagine a newsstand that would only carry titles you want to read, all of them, in your pocket. Information source is as large as the Web itself, from the online press to blogs that cover your favorite topic to that content your loved ones put up on YouTube. That's TwitRSS!
TwitRSS is mainly designed to work on mobile phones. Thought it's accessible from any Web browser, it gives its best when accessed from your phone. It's accessible thru one unique URL: http://twitrss.com.
TwitRSS is now in private beta. The public part allows anyone to read the featured channels on the Home page and to look for the public searchable channels thru the find link.
Pretty much everything is active (i.e. clickable). The top left picture will always take you one level up. From the Home page you can access the channels with the most recent stories (latest link), or select a category to discover content on a specific topic. Below lies the river of news. For each channel you'll find its icon, its title in bold capital letters and the title of its latest story. Clicking the title of the channel takes you to the list of stories, while hitting the title of the story takes you directly to that content. When on one of those pages, the list of categories is replaced by the name of the category for the selected channel followed by the title of that channel. Both elements are also active. You'll notice that some channels have a different color scheme than the typical TwitRSS' you know and love - it's an artifact from the future ;-)
To look for a particular source follow the find link. Simply enter at least 3 letters from the title of that source and access it.
Registered users can add their own channels, public (searchable by all) or private (your own facebook RSS stream). Registered users access their own space with the my link.
Of course, special attention is given to those who have been using TwitRSS for some time. They can register for themselves or for their friends thru the last part of the my page using the Twitter profile they've registered their feeds with.
Once logged in, you'll notice the change of color scheme, meaning you're in. The home and find links work the same way they do when not logged in. The only difference is the [+] sign that follows the name of the channel on the channel and stories pages. Clicking on [+] lets you add that channel to your selection. The [+] sign then becomes [-], to allow you to remove that channel from your selection. Selected channels appear followed by ♥.
From the my link, you'll navigate in your selection of channels. You'll notice the new config link, that gives you access to the settings page (modify password or e-mail address, set Twitter profile), the channels page and a log out link that terminates your current session.
The channel page is the place you go to to manage your own channels. You can add new channels with the add link that appears next to the channel link, and you can reclaim channels you registered earlier with TwitRSS.
As you may know, the "twit" part of the name of the service comes from Twitter, the microblogging service (which we're not associated with in any way). Each channel can be associated with a Twitter profile. Followers of that profile will get an alert for each new story with its title and a link. For those who receive their tweets on a computer, the link will take them to the original story. For those who can and choose to get notifications by SMS, the link will take them directly to the right mobilized page within TwitRSS. The loop is closed!
There's plenty more to say, but you now have all it takes to start.
